PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
